Reigersbos, situated in Southeast Amsterdam, was built between 1980 and 1984. The district is almost 40 years old and is now in need of renovation. In 2018, the municipality wrote 'Principenota Reigersbos' in consultation with the Residents' Platform Reigersbos, housing corporations, school boards, healthcare institutions and property owners. This document contains a list of possible solutions that will be investigated and developed in consultation with the neighborhood in the near future. Some of these solutions include:
improving the quality of life and traffic routes;
improving the Reigersbos shopping center ;
keeping social facilities up to standard;
improving the quality of homes so that they are ready for a sustainable future;
build new homes, and ensure that residents continue to live in Reigersbos;
improving the quality of public space (including sports and play facilities) and greenery.
For the next phase, the municipality is entering the district and interacting with local residents to sharpen future spatial plans through various co-creation methods. One of these is the "city-gaming" method from Play the City.
The Reigersbos Game is a multiplayer table-top debate/game, intended for residents, housing corporations, school boards, healthcare institutions, real estate owners and municipal officials, who exchange knowledge, ideas and strategies to define interventions together. Initially, the game takes place in locations such as the Reigersbos Shopping Center, the Reigersbosdreef, Public Primary School (OBS) De Tamboerijn.
Reigersbos Game delivers several work sessions where residents as ‘local experts’ join active local organizations and expert teams of the municipality. These game meetings are intended to deepen the ongoing discussions about activities, climate adaptation and housing and to introduce new urban aspects, such as the quality of public facilities, work and leisure in Reigersbos.
